The active ingredient in Danmax is ondansetron hydrochloride as the dihydrate, the racemic form of ondansetron and a selective blocking agent of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor type. The empirical formula is C18H19N3O·HCl·2H2O, representing a molecular weight of 365.9.

Danmax Orodispersible 8mg Tablets have the advantage of a more rapid onset of action compared to standard, solid tablets, since orodispersible tablets enable the active ingredient (ondansetron) to be absorbed rapidly into the blood stream via the sublingual blood vessels in the mouth

Indications
Ondansetron is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with:

highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including cisplatin greater than or equal to 50 mg/m2
initial and repeat courses of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy
radiotherapy in patients receiving either total body irradiation, single high-dose fraction to the abdomen, or daily fractions to the abdomen

Ondansetron is also indicated for the prevention of postoperative nausea and/or vomiting.
